One More Day...

Until my spring break!

I have two hikes alone from this past weekend to blog about.

So HOPEFULLY this week, I can get caught up.

We aren't going anywhere for spring break, though I hope there might be a hike in the future.

Can't wait to share about our hike this past weekend...

A Hiker's Blog

About a year and a half ago, we were trying to figure out what kind of family activity that we could do that wouldn't cost much, would be fun and good exercise, and would appeal to all four of our children (ages 3, 6, 9, and 12). We are not really camping type people unless a furnished cabin is in the picture. And though a lake house sounds neat, that didn't fit into the "less money" category. So we settled on hiking. A friend kindly steered me toward a Tim Ernst book about Dayhikes, and our love of hiking began.

I often share about our hiking experiences on our family blog (www.thecloudchronicles.blogspot.com) but wanted a place to just type more details and share more photos of hikes we have taken. I won't update daily, but hopefully we will have enough nice weekends that I can share as I go...

I want to make a few things clear:

We are no experts on hiking. We are learning as we go. If you want experts, please read some of Tim Ernst's books. He knows way more than I ever know. I own several of them and seek out information from them often.

Our hikes are fairly short, we try to stick to 4 miles or less. Our three year old can run out of stamina quickly. (When we started he rode in a backpack...now he walks with us.)

Most of the hikes are in NW Arkansas where we live, though occasionally we get away to other places. Also, most hikes were done by our family, though once in a while, my husband and I steal away to hike on our own.

That is about it.
